Parental consent

Last updated: 2026-09-08

Our students are 12 to 17. UAE law puts a parent or legal guardian, not the student, in charge of the decision to hand over personal data. This page says plainly what you are agreeing to and how to change your mind.

Why this page exists

Federal Decree-Law 45/2021 sets the age at which a person can consent to their own data being processed at 18. The UAE's Child Digital Safety Law also places duties on platforms used by children and makes parents responsible for their child's activity online.

So the account is yours, the consent is yours, and the control is yours.

What you are agreeing to

That we may create an account for your child's learning, hold their first name and age band, and record which lessons they open, what they answer and what they build.

That we may show their name on a certificate they earn, and on a leaderboard within the course if you leave that setting on.

That we may contact you — not your child — about their progress, their kit and their subscription.

What we will not do

We will not show advertising to your child.

We will not sell, rent or trade their data.

We will not publish their photograph, their full name or their work outside the course without asking you first, in writing, each time.

We will not let another student contact them privately through the site.

How we record consent

You give it when you create the account and tick the consent box, and we store the date, the account and the version of this page you agreed to.

We may ask you to confirm it again if the law changes or if we start doing something materially new with the data. We will explain what changed.

Changing your mind

Write to hello@techmakerz.com from the email on the account and say what you want stopped. You can withdraw consent entirely, or turn off one part of it, such as the leaderboard.

Withdrawing consent for the essentials means we can no longer run the account, so it will be closed and the subscription cancelled. We will tell you what that means before we act, and refunds follow the Refund policy.

What you can see and control

You can see everything your child has done in the course from your account, ask for a copy of their data, correct anything wrong, and ask us to delete it.

If you share the account with your child, remember they will see whatever you can see, including billing.
